Arrow Making Characters , Simple Guide By : ME

I think this guide doesn't belong here . So if it doesn't , I ask one of the mods to move it . Thank you

Well , since there are a lot of people looking to make some characters , I've decided to make a guide to avoid any more topic's as well as PM .

Note: I'm not that good yet with photoshop so , any help in to make this guide good would be appreciated ^^

Index :
1. Size
2. The Templates
3. Brightness
4. Cutting some of the image
5. Some rules .
6. Something I'll probably think of later .
______________________________________
EPILOGUE:
I use PHOTOSHOP and PAINT to do these cards , so i'm gonna talk about these, since their the best anyway.

1. Size :

When you are making a card , the first thing you should have in mind his this : The more bigger the image is , the poor the quality of the reduced image .
So, try to find the small images .

So , when you have your image, it's time to reduce the size . To do so , use this here :

The image that will be in the card must be : 22 : Width and 26 : Height

Once it's reduced it's time to go to the templates .

2. The Templates:

This templates are already game-sized , so no need to shape the image . Unless you want to make it bigger .
HERE:

Thanks to Chaos0830 for the image templates

So , to pass the images from one window use this little icon here :

Drag the image to the top, of the template . Once there, use the key-arrows(those buttons on your board to the more ignorant >.<) to place the image on it's spot .

An easier way to paste the image into the card area is to:
1) reduce the screenshot image size to something take looks like it might fit well.
2) select the "white space" in the card template (where the image will be pasted). Can use for example Magic Wand Tool (W) to do this (Tolerance 1).
3) make selectino in the screenshot, copy selection
4) go back to card template and choose Edit > Paste Into from the menu. Now you can freely move the screenshot around in the card area and see if you can get any good angles.
5) not looking good? Try a different size for the screenshot (ie: reduce it to say 15% instead of 10%).
6) finish off by tinkering with brightness/contrast and smart sharpening.

3. The Brightness:

Some of the images you pick are a little dark . So , there is brightness to make it more light . The Brightness button can be found here :

4. Cutting Some of the image

Even if you pick a big image , you can cut some of it , and make it smaller . This one is easy . Go to paint and open your image . Use this button :

Then , with it , select the part you want to cut . Then press DELETE BUTTON. You image will shaped just like you want it ^^

5. Some Rules:

I made this guide so people would have some good time making any pictures they like . So , don't just because you make a character , doesn't mean it has to be in the game . My Jiraya topic took me a weekend to be planed ^^

So please : Post only good ideas, not all of them

6. Some members help:

In Photoshop: Filter > Sharpen > Smart Sharpen

If you take screenshots from the anime, the characters and object are often not very sharp. They get even less sharp when reducing the image to like 10% the make it fit inside the card area, making all colors and black lines become very unclear.

By using Smart Sharpen as a final touch, you can get some sharpness back... Values between Radius 0,3 and 1,0 usually work well. Less make no big difference, more makes the image too sharp.

Example at 0,1

Example at 0,9

Note that this image actually wont fit that well, and the difference is probably even bigger if using a twice as small image.

Maybe we should move this to the Graphics Forum? Could sticky it there if the guide gets even bigger.

For FN genin the time it takes to switch to the second image is ~8 seconds and the time it takes to switch back is ~5 seconds.

also sharpening the small image does wonders for appearance

Here's something you can add to the guide:

if the image you use isn't at least recognizable then sharpening wont help much, but it does make a big difference if it works.

did you not see my post earlier, and there is no way to perfectly get the FN Jounin and kage believe me I have tried, Udon himself would need to give you his styles. Anyway for FN genin the time it takes to switch to the second image is ~8 seconds and the time it takes to switch back is ~5 seconds.

Also if you should have the option to sharpen, just do "sharpen edges" it is not as nice as smart sharpen but it is a decent alternative
